“Catch the insight of defending ugly crimes”
The night before CAT Taylor was to again start the Super Bowl at quarterback, a drunk in a stolen truck, driving the wrong way in the dark of night, nearly killed him, ended his career and destroyed his family, all in a heartbeat.
But CAT, like a true winner, refused to be defeated. Now, years later, he is a justifiably-feared, criminal defense trial lawyer. In courtrooms, in front of juries, he's still an MVP, now defending those accused of murder, rape and other major crimes.
Still often live on TV, CAT fiercely continues to prove - wherever there's a challenge, a champion like him will walk away a winner every time.
The Bentley Barrister is reminiscent of John Grisham’s, A Time to Kill. "Joel Erik Thompson knows the law and this is gonna be a hell of a trial."

About JET
Joel Erik Thompson is a story-teller, writing about what he knows well. As a Board-certified criminal defense law specialist, with over 400 criminal jury trials, 12 of them death penalty murder trials, plus 8 years on the bench as an Arizona Superior Court trial judge pro tem, JET gives his writing rich characters and a moving narrative.
Born in a small, semi-rural community in New Jersey, within sight of the "Big City" of New York, adventure was ever-present. Add to that his natural curiosity, plus a very visible mop of red hair, and he was often in trouble. But he developed a keen ability to "talk"; his way out of it, usually at least with a straight face. Naturally he grew up and honed his skills in law school to become a fierce advocate for those in serious need of being defended.
Adding to that a fierce drive and a determination to not just succeed, but to excel, all made him a force in a courtroom. The stories he shares now may be fiction, but the characters and the tales are memorably real.
